Even the purest water supplied through water mains may be contaminated by sediment such as rust and swarf present in the pipework, whilst sand particles may also be entrained when water supplies are taken from wells and boreholes.
These solid particles can cause damage and corrosion to plant, equipment and machinery. Further, colloidal substances and dissolved organic materials and contaminants from industrial processes may also be present. However, problems can be avoided by filtering the water supply to remove the contamination and to avoid expensive and inconvenient maintenance.
Kamco has the DEPURA range of water filter housings and cartridges for removal of sediment, sand and debris from water. Activated carbon cartridges are also available for the removal of chlorine and organic pollutants.
Standard filter housings are fibre reinforced polypropylene, taking 5, 7 or 10" cartridges. Optional brass bodies and Trogamid high strength bowls allow working pressures up to 25 bar and temperatures up to 80°C, if required.
Carefully designed sealing arrangements enable filters to be dismantled for cartridge changing by hand, without spanners or special tools. To optimise strength and resistance to overpressure and water hammer, filter bowls have hemispherical bases, and cartridges are supported by a coil spring to absorb pressure pulses.
For users who require maximum convenience, we have the advanced DEPURAMATIC self cleaning filter, whilst the CYCLONE model is ideal for removing quantities of sand from borehole water.
