BLEND OF LOW TOXICITY BIOCIDES FOR CLEANING & PROTECTING HEATING, COOLING & UNDERFLOOR SYSTEMS
Breaks down and eliminates blockages and fouling caused by slimes in domestic or commercial systems, including underfloor circuits.
Slimebreaker GWT is a low toxicity broad spectrum biocide for cleaning up fouled heating and open recirculating cooling systems at a low dose rate. It is very effective in controlling slime forming bacteria, sulphate reducing bacteria, Pseudomonas and Legionnaires’ Disease bacteria.
Slimebreaker GWT breaks down the cell walls of the bacteria, and then attacks the cell nucleus, rendering adherent biofilms inert and readily dispersible.
It is effective over a broad pH range, and will control both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. It is low foaming, and compatible with all phosphonate/polymer scale and
corrosion inhibitor programmes. It is fast acting, non-corrosive, and fully biodegradable.
Removal of heavy biofilm fouling:
Wherever possible and accessible, it is prudent to mechanically remove adherent biofilms as much as is possible. In the case of open systems, if the feed tank is already heavily contaminated with slime, the tank should be physically cleaned before application of Slimebreaker GWT. To remove biofilms in inaccessible areas, a solution of Slimebreaker
GWT should be circulated rapidly throughout the system for at least twenty four hours, ideally with a purpose built power flushing pump.
Treatment rate for a purge application should be 1000 ml. (1 litre) per 100 litres of system water volume.
Subsequently, the system should be purged with fresh, clean water, draining down through a full bore drain valve, and refilled with fresh water with Systemsafe DM corrosion inhibitor and the normal dosage of
GWT to prevent further fouling.
Slimebreaker GWT can be shot dosed, or on larger systems may be automatically dosed via a biocide controller/metering pump.
For maximum ongoing protection of larger systems, it is advisable to
alternate the dose of Slimebreaker with another biocide (either organic or oxidising) to prevent resistant strains from forming.
Purge application for fouled systems: Treatment rate for a purge application should be 1000 ml. (1 litre) per 100 litres of system water volume.
Regular treatment: Normal dosage rate is 250 ml per 100 litres water volume of the system.
Microbiological testing will dictate the frequency of application, and dosage may be increased up to 500 ml per 100 litres system water.
A simple drop test method is available to ascertain the concentration.
Its effect can also be monitored by measuring the decrease in bacterial colonies using either dipslides or by measuring the T.V.C. (Total Viable Count) at a microbiological laboratory.
