Descaling liquid for pipework, radiators, heating and cooling systems, and equipment with either rust or limescale deposits. Dissolves iron oxides at ambient temperatures. Non fuming.
Safe to use with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, copper, brass and most plastics / rubber.
APPLICATION & USAGE:
Working concentration is 10 to 20% SCALEBREAKER FX in water, by volume. The rate at which deposits are dissolved increases with temperature. Lower concentrations require higher temperatures for maximum descaling effect. Higher concentrations are recommended for removing large quantities of rust.
The prepared solution may be used to soak the equipment to be descaled, although the process can be accelerated by vigorous circulation of the acid solution by means of a SCALEBREAKER descaling pump. As limescale is dissolved, carbon dioxide is evolved and descaling may be considered complete when no more gas bubbles are formed in the solution and the SCALEBREAKER solution is still pink (acidic).
If deposits have not been completely removed, and the solution has changed colour to yellow/amber, either add more FX or repeat the cleaning process. The colour change will be masked if large quantities of iron oxide deposits are present. Any foam generated during descaling may be dissipated by adding FOAMBREAKER.
After descaling, drain the SCALEBREAKER solution, neutralise with Kamco NEUTRALISING CRYSTALS and flush the descaled equipment thoroughly with water.
REFER TO THE APPROPRIATE MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET BEFORE USE.
CAUTION: Scalebreaker chemicals, and their solutions, are acidic and, therefore, suitable protective clothing, gloves and goggles should be worn.
When descaling with any acid, there is a possibility of flammable hydrogen gas being evolved, and the working area should be well ventilated. Avoid smoking nearby, or any other means of ignition.
